I live on the outskirts of a big city (Seattle) and rarely make my way into the actual city. I enjoy the burbs, and the pace it brings to my afterwork life. I like to take walks around the hood and down to Lake Washington, where I can see the city. Way off in the distance. Walking in view of the cityscape has taken on a different feeling since the election. It seems quiet and subdued.
I’m sure many other city or city-adjacent dwellers have felt it as well. It didn’t feel like 2016, I don’t see many MAGA’s celebrating… Everything is subdued. It almost feels like the covid lockdowns. I also can sense a growing anger, especially in the female population. I feel like we (men) failed them, and they know it.
I think it will take a few more weeks for us to really see what the next steps forward will be, but there has to be something. I can feel the energy swirling, but it is very unsettled.
